Winston Hsia has been a Director of CTBC Bank USA since August of 2019, and became Chairman in July of 2021. He is also the Chairman of the Executive Committee and an active member of the Corporate Governance Committee and Board Risk Management & Oversight Committee. With his extensive business experience, Winston brings a strategic yet pragmatic understanding and focus to CTBCUSA Board and management.
Mr. Hsia is the Chief Investment Officer and heads the investment business of CTBC Financial Holding Group, a listed company in Taiwan with total assets over US$180 billion. He joined the group in 2010 and has held various roles centered around the group’s investment activities in debt and equity.
Mr. Hsia started his career in fixed income at Lehman Brothers (HK) before joining Peregrine Investment Holdings where he held various roles in sales management and debt capital markets origination across the region between 1992 and 1998. After leaving investment banking in 1998, Mr. Hsia co-founded a FinTech company in Korea seeking to re-engineer the issuance and trading of corporate debt. He moved to Taiwan in 2000 where he pivoted to roles in the media business. He reorganized and cofounded the holding company for the largest cable TV business in Taiwan where he spearheaded 2 landmark transaction with over US$1.8 billion raised. He also concurrently ran a TV based commerce platform which he subsequently sold to a strategic investor in 2009. With more than 25 years of experience in finance, direct investment, and operations, Mr. Hsia is experienced in building businesses as well as deal sourcing for new business and investment opportunities across the US and Asia.
Mr. Hsia grew up in San Francisco and went on to receive his BA in Economics from University of California, Berkeley and his MBA degree from University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School.
